To be honest, at first we wanted to get rid of this fridge. It works fine (okay, it works excellently; it freezes things if you're not careful!) but it has one major flaw.

It's LOUD.

The compressor hums and hums all day long, rattling the floor, the stove, everything.

But the more I get to know this fridge, the more its charming personality comes out, and now I think I want to keep it forever! Well, at least run it into the ground. :)

It has some nice features despite its incessant humming. I like to think that it is purring; it's happy to have food in it!

It's not as amazing as our stove, but I thought I'd share some photos of our big cuddly fridge-beast.

The most striking thing about this refrigerator (besides the noise) is that it has a butter conditioner.

A BUTTER CONDITIONER!

What other fridge have you ever seen that has this??

I tried it out, and "Soft" gets you very soft, toast-spreadable butter, while "Medium" is perfect for recipes. How does it work? Who cares, it's great!

The door opens from the top and is spring-loaded so closes neatly back up (as does the cheese door).

It came with a darling little plastic butter dish, too!
I just like these fun graphics inside. Note how I've turned it way down after noticing my carrots had morphed into icicles!
Why, the freezer is on the bottom!

How does it open?

Note my foot, poised on a mysterious footpedal.

Et VOILA!
Now how do I get to that food in the bin?
Et WHEE!

The bin swings out for your convenience!

The only thing is that this freezer is rather small, so a little deep freeze chest might be in my future. After all, I have plans to freeze not only fruits from the farmers' market this spring/summer, but also veggies that I will hopefully be growing, too! Neato!
